  • HMD GLOBAL IMPROVES "BUDGET" WITH THE NEW NOKIA C SERIES FOR MWC 2022
    News 2022. 3. 14. 21:30

HMD Global has taken advantage of MWC 2022 with the release of no less than three budget Nokia C-eries phones. This series is the most popular among Nokia devices, accounting for 16% of sales over the past five years. And they're better than ever, judging by the new ad.

To start with, HMD Global has officially unveiled two Nokia C-eries devices for MWC 2022, dubbed Nokia C21 and Nokia C21 Plus. Perhaps surprisingly, the two gadgets running Android 11 Go Edition out of the box are no different in size. Each is equipped with a 6.5-inch HD+ display and a V-notch camera. And that selfie camera is the 5MP camera on both phones.

Each phone also features the same octa-ore processor clocked at up to 1.6GHz. In both cases, this is supported up to 64GB of storage, expandable via microSD card up to 256GB. And, of course, in both cases, the package includes the same dual- or single-symbol 4G, Bluetooth 4.2, micro-USB and a headphone jack.

WHAT MAKES THE NOKIA C21 PLUS DIFFERENT FROM A STANDARD PHONE?
The differences between the two Nokia C21 phones come down to RAM, main cameras, battery configuration and security. As for the latter, the C21 Plus has an IP52 rating that the standard version of the phone doesn't have. It also provides a battery capacity of up to 5050 mAh compared to the 3000 mAh capacity of the Nokia C21. On the back of the Nokia C21 Plus is an array of two cameras.

Specifically for the latter, it's a 13-megapixel autofocus camera backed by a 2-egapixel depth sensor. Compared to the 8 megapixel camera on the Nokia C21.

More importantly, the Nokia C21 Plus has up to 4GB of RAM. Otherwise, the Nokia C21 has the same options, 2GB and 3GB versions will be sold at launch.

    Nokia S21:

Slightly behind the Nokia C21, the company is also releasing a second edition of the Nokia C2. This is aimed at the even more budget end of the spectrum. Starting with a 1.5GHz quad-ore processor, up to 2GB of RAM and up to 32GB of expandable storage up to 256GB.

The screen here is also somewhat smaller, with a lower resolution. HMD Global has chosen a 5.7-nch FWVGA+ display for the new Nokia C2. This sets the resolution to a still respectable, given its price, and still usable level of 480 x 960.

Bluetooth 5.0, a 2400mAh removable battery, face recognition to unlock the phone, a headphone jack, and dual SIM configurations are also part of the build. Sweeten the deal for those who just want something more accessible without losing too much functionality.

In terms of cameras, the Nokia C2 2nd Edition comes with a 5MP main camera and a 2MP selfie camera.

SPECIFICATIONS OF THE UPCOMING NOKIA C-SERIES
To fully explain the differences between these three phones, HMD Global has provided specifications for each Nokia C-series device. Specifications are included below.

ACCESSORIES WILL APPEAR FOR NEW DEVICES
As with last year's C-eries launch, this year's MWC announcement also includes several new Nokia device accessories.

This includes the new Nokia Go Earbuds 2+ and Nokia headphones. The latter is available for wireless or wired use and comes in an "ultra-ight" case with soft ear cushions. HMD Global indicates that they are designed for comfort as well as convenience and sound quality.

On the other hand, the Nokia Go Earbuds 2+ are truly wireless earbuds. Designed with comfort in mind at an affordable price (as with the Nokia headphones, they are yet to be unveiled), these headphones also bring something new to the table. The company says environmental noise cancellation is built in, as well as sweat and splash protection. And that they will last up to 24 hours of playback on a single charge.

    PRICES AND AVAILABILITY
Now, it's worth noting that the Nokia C-series phones and accessories announced at MWC 2022 are not currently scheduled to ship in the US. And the company has also not disclosed any exact information about pricing or availability as of this writing. But previous entries in the C series, notably the Nokia C20 and Nokia C2, can provide some insight. At least in regards to the price.

The previous model of the Nokia C20 series entered the market at a suggested retail price of only 89 euros. So a new phone should cost about the same. On the contrary, Nokia C2 is much less good. So it should cost significantly less as well.
